Preparation Instructions

Warming

Preheat oven to 350°F. Remove ham from packaging and place flat side down in a 2-inch deep baking pan, fat side up. Add package drippings and 1/2 cup water in the pan and cover tightly with aluminum foil to help retain moisture. Place pan in oven and bake for 15 minutes per pound, or until reaches desired eating temperature. Remove ham from oven. Let stand loosely covered with aluminum foil for about 10 minutes before slicing to serve.

Glazing

30 minutes before baking is complete, remove aluminum foil and brush 1/4 cup of glaze onto top and sides of ham. Continue baking uncovered for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, remove ham again and brush with another 1/4 cup of glaze. Any remaining glaze can be used if desired, or served on the side as a dipping sauce. Return ham to oven and bake uncovered for the final 15 minutes.

Carving

Place warm ham flat side down on carving board or platter. Using a meat fork in one hand (to steady the ham), begin carving the ham with the other hand across the grain into 1/4″ thick slices.

I want my money back. I had never saw this brand before but took a chance. This was the toughest ham I’ve had in my many years in this world. Also had something small and green in the meat. Cancer? I have pictures and receipt.

We’re very sorry to hear this! Our quality assurance team would like to get more information and the photos you mention, so you should have an email from them in your inbox. Our ham should not be too tough and certainly not green, so we hope we can make this right.

Taste like tender filet mignon. Like Jays potato chips, can’t stop eating it.

I am cooking my ham right now. Very much looking forward to it. But there are no instructions on how to mix up the glaze. Do I add water? how much? How long do I cook the glaze? Over how high a heat? Or when your instructions say to brush glaze on the ham do you mean for me sprinkle/ brush on the powder in the packet? Help!

    1. Fricks Quality Meats

We’re sorry for the confusion regarding the glaze instructions, but we hope your ham still turned out tasty! The instructions on package are for a dry glaze method with the intention of sprinkling the glaze powder directly on the ham. To make it into a traditional wet glaze, instructions can be found by scanning the on-pack QR code or on our “Prepare a Carver Ham” cooking tip page under “Meat Know-How” on our website: fricksqualitymeats.com/meat_know_how/prepare-carver-ham/
